“If you knew Yuli directly or not, you knew the loving soul she possessed and the many lives she was able to impact. She leaves behind nothing but amazing memories full of happiness and laughter, of smiles and hugs, of tears and pick-me-ups…These treasures will live with us forever. ”

“To my dearest Junebug, you will forever be in our hearts, memories & prayers. Yuli, such an amazing person with a huge heart and always brought smiles and laughter to everyone surrounding her. I know she had a tremendous impact to her UniCamp campers with her optimism and enthusiastic personality! God has gained a beautiful soul and angel! RIP my Yuli! Forever in my heart, Lindsey “Tiger-Lily”

“During my camp session with Junebug, I could tell her heart was in the right place. She had a contagious enthusiasm and energy that made everyone smile, especially the kids.” – Martin “Sky”

“I was fortunate enough to experience two unforgettable sessions with Ms. June Bug. During these two weeks, I was able to appreciate her ability to win over the hearts of each and every one of her campers. She has always been incredibly down to earth and sincere. Her smile and laugh had the power to melt away all the stresses of hump day. And her capacity to break it down on the dance floor to any 90s hip hop song was just undeniable. June Bug, you will truly be missed.” – Toots Doggy Dog

“I knew Yuli through my first year volunteering in UCLA UniCamp in 2009. Yuli was a new Woodsey at the time and our entire session instantly became closer as the training weeks went by. She was very kindhearted, had a great sense if humor, and was academically and career driven. I was not able to volunteer with her after that year, but whenever I would see her on campus or around Westwood, we would talk about who and what we missed about camp and what we thought we would do after graduation. I have no doubt that you would have gone to do bigger and better things had your life not ended so abruptly. We will miss you and always remember your personality and memory.” – Tej “Jet”

A week ago, we heard the tragic news that one of our Woodsey family is no longer with us. On October 9th, Yuli “Junebug” Gutierrez, 24, was involved in a fatal motorcycle accident, and we are still struck with shock and disbelief that she was taken so early from us. Although it’s been a couple years, I still clearly remembered how kindhearted and genuine she was from the several occasions that we hanged out together. She embodied the passion and enthusiasm for working with children that our volunteers are known for. If these brief interactions alone already reflected Junebug’s loving personality, I can only imagine the impact she had on her campers and fellow volunteers. Her passing reminded us how fragile our lives can be, but our memories of her will be cherished and stay with us forever. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Guiterrez family through this difficult time.

Everyone who has been a UniCamp volunteer has seen and interacted with UniCorps while up at camp. However, many people only see and understand the maintenance side of UniCorps. In reality, there is so much more that UniCorps offers to both its campers and its advisers!

UniCorps fosters leadership and self-confidence through service learning. Campers who participate in our program help out around the campsite by carrying out necessary service projects that are vital to the running of camp. Simply put, UniCorps is a necessary program that gives back to Camp River Glen.

Due to recent changes, our campers are given the opportunity to learn and practice leadership while being mentored by Classic Camp Specialists. Corps Advisers will work to develop programing that promotes leadership skills among their campers. In doing so, Corps campers will be able to give back to Classic Camp by using their acquired skills to help run Specialist rotations for the younger campers.
Some things to keep in mind while applying:

· Each adviser will be required to fundraise 1,200 dollars.
· Down the mountain training meetings will take place on Sunday evenings near campus and will begin in Winter quarter.
· UniCorps will have a weekend retreat and will take day trips up to Camp River Glen before the camp season starts as part of Corps training.

We hope that you all will consider applying for UniCorps!
We cannot wait to hear from you!
